“นิติศาสตร์ มข.” จับมือ University of Essex ยกระดับความร่วมมือด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนและการเข้าถึงความยุติธรรมระดับโลก
คณะนิติศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เดินหน้าสร้างเครือข่ายวิชาการระดับนานาชาติ หารือความร่วมมือกับ School of Law และ Essex Human Rights Centre แห่ง University of Essex สหราชอาณาจักร มุ่งพัฒนางานวิจัย การเรียนการสอน การแลกเปลี่ยนนักศึกษาและบุคลากร ต่อยอดองค์ความรู้ด้านสิทธิมนุษยชน การเข้าถึงความยุติธรรม และการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน
เมื่อวันที่ 27 กรกฎาคม 2569 รองศาสตราจารย์ วนิดา แสงสารพันธุ์ คณบดีคณะนิติศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เดินทางเยือน Essex Human Rights Centre และ School of Law แห่ง University of Essex สหราชอาณาจักร ตามคำเชิญของศาสตราจารย์ Carla Ferstman ผู้อำนวยการ Essex Human Rights Centre เพื่อประชุมหารือแนวทางพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางวิชาการระหว่างสองสถาบัน พร้อมยกระดับการศึกษาด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนและการเข้าถึงความยุติธรรมในระดับนานาชาติ
การประชุมในครั้งนี้ได้รับเกียรติจากผู้บริหารและคณาจารย์ของมหาวิทยาลัยเอสเซกซ์เข้าร่วม ประกอบด้วย ศาสตราจารย์ Carla Ferstman ผู้อำนวยการ Essex Human Rights Centre, ดร. Sabina Garahan ผู้อำนวยการ Human Rights Centre Clinic, ดร. Jessica Lawrence ผู้อำนวยการด้านการศึกษาและรองคณบดีคณะนิติศาสตร์ รวมถึงศาสตราจารย์ Annecy Lax คณบดีฝ่ายความร่วมมือ (Dean of Partnerships) และทีมงานด้านความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศ สะท้อนถึงความสำคัญของการสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือระยะยาวระหว่างทั้งสองมหาวิทยาลัย
รองศาสตราจารย์ วนิดา แสงสารพันธุ์ คณบดีคณะนิติศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น เปิดเผยว่า ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้แลกเปลี่ยนข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับทิศทางการพัฒนาสถาบัน โดยมหาวิทยาลัยเอสเซกซ์นำเสนอการดำเนินงานของ Essex Human Rights Centre หลักสูตรนิติศาสตรมหาบัณฑิต (LL.M.) ตลอดจนงานวิจัยและกิจกรรมวิชาการที่เชื่อมโยงกับการแก้ไขปัญหาสังคมระดับนานาชาติ พร้อมนำเสนอรูปแบบการจัดการเรียนการสอนของ Human Rights Centre Clinic ซึ่งเป็นต้นแบบของการเรียนรู้เชิงปฏิบัติ (Clinical Legal Education) ที่บูรณาการการเรียนการสอนกับการทำงานจริงด้านสิทธิมนุษยชนและการเข้าถึงความยุติธรรม
ขณะเดียวกัน คณะนิติศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ได้นำเสนอวิสัยทัศน์การพัฒนาคณะภายใต้แนวคิด “Cooperation Strategy for Sustainable Justice” พร้อมนำเสนอผลงานสำคัญ อาทิ การพัฒนา Clinical Legal Education (CLE) การดำเนินงานของ KKU Legal Aid Center (KLAC) ภายใต้แนวคิด “Justice for Everyone” การจัดตั้งศูนย์ศึกษาและประสานงานด้านการระงับข้อพิพาททางเลือกภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ความร่วมมือกับสำนักงานคณะกรรมการสิทธิมนุษยชนแห่งชาติ ตลอดจนการดำเนินงานของ Human Rights and Sustainable Learning Center (HRS) เพื่อส่งเสริมการศึกษาด้านสิทธิมนุษยชน การพัฒนาเยาวชน และการขับเคลื่อนเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน (SDGs)
นอกจากนี้ ทั้งสองสถาบันยังได้หารือแนวทางขยายความร่วมมือในหลายมิติ ทั้งการจัดตั้งเครือข่าย Clinical Legal Education ระหว่างมหาวิทยาลัย การพัฒนากลไกส่งเสริมการเข้าถึงความยุติธรรมและการให้ความช่วยเหลือทางกฎหมายแก่กลุ่มเปราะบาง การวิจัยร่วมด้านสิทธิมนุษยชน การพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน และกฎหมายในภูมิภาคลุ่มน้ำโขง ตลอดจนการแลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ด้านกฎหมาย จริยธรรม และสิทธิมนุษยชนในยุคปัญญาประดิษฐ์ (AI Governance, Ethics and Human Rights)
ทั้งสองฝ่ายยังเห็นพ้องที่จะผลักดันการแลกเปลี่ยนอาจารย์ นักศึกษา และนักวิจัย การพัฒนาหลักสูตรระยะสั้น หลักสูตรฝึกอบรม กิจกรรมการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต (Lifelong Learning) รวมถึงการจัดประชุมวิชาการนานาชาติ การประชุมเชิงปฏิบัติการ และการสร้างเครือข่ายผู้นำเยาวชนด้านสิทธิมนุษยชน เพื่อยกระดับความร่วมมือทางวิชาการอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม
ในช่วงท้ายของการเยือน คณะผู้แทนจากมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่นได้ร่วมรับประทานอาหารกลางวันกับนักศึกษาระดับบัณฑิตศึกษาจากหลายประเทศในภูมิภาคเอเชีย เพื่อแลกเปลี่ยนประสบการณ์การเรียนรู้ในบริบทนานาชาติ รับฟังมุมมองของนักศึกษาต่างชาติ และสร้างเครือข่ายความร่วมมือด้านวิชาการและความเข้าใจระหว่างวัฒนธรรม
“การเยือน University of Essex ในครั้งนี้ นับเป็นอีกก้าวสำคัญของคณะนิติศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น ในการขยายความร่วมมือกับสถาบันชั้นนำของโลก เพื่อยกระดับการศึกษาด้านกฎหมาย สิทธิมนุษยชน และการเข้าถึงความยุติธรรม ผ่านการพัฒนางานวิจัย การเรียนการสอน และการบริการวิชาการที่มุ่งสร้างผลกระทบเชิงบวกต่อสังคม พร้อมสนับสนุนการบรรลุเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนในระดับสากลอย่างเป็นรูปธรรม”รองศาสตราจารย์ วนิดา กล่าว.
KKU Faculty of Law and University of Essex Forge Strategic Partnership to Advance Human Rights Education and Access to Justice
KHON KAEN / ESSEX, UNITED KINGDOM – The Faculty of Law, Khon Kaen University (KKU), has taken a significant step toward strengthening its global academic presence by holding high-level discussions with the School of Law and the Essex Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex, United Kingdom. The meeting focused on expanding international cooperation in legal education, human rights, Clinical Legal Education (CLE), and access to justice, while reinforcing both institutions’ shared commitment to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On 27 July 2026, Associate Professor Wanida Sangsarapun, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Khon Kaen University, visited the Essex Human Rights Centre and the School of Law, University of Essex, at the invitation of Professor Carla Ferstman, Director of the Essex Human Rights Centre, to discuss strategic directions for long-term academic collaboration between the two institutions.
The meeting brought together senior administrators and distinguished academics from the University of Essex, including Professor Carla Ferstman, Director of the Essex Human Rights Centre; Dr. Sabina Garahan, Director of the Human Rights Centre Clinic; Dr. Jessica Lawrence, Director of Education and Deputy Dean of the School of Law; Professor Annecy Lax, Dean of Partnerships; and members of the University’s International Partnerships Team. Their participation reflected a strong mutual commitment to building a sustainable and impactful international partnership.
The discussions commenced with an exchange of institutional visions and strategic priorities. Representatives from the University of Essex presented an overview of the internationally renowned Essex Human Rights Centre, its postgraduate (LL.M.) programmes, and its pioneering research addressing global human rights challenges. The delegation also introduced the Human Rights Centre Clinic, an internationally recognised model of Clinical Legal Education (CLE) that integrates experiential learning with practical engagement in human rights advocacy and access to justice.
In response, the Faculty of Law, Khon Kaen University, presented its strategic vision under the theme “Cooperation Strategy for Sustainable Justice.” The presentation highlighted several flagship initiatives that demonstrate the faculty’s commitment to social justice and legal innovation. These included the continued development of Clinical Legal Education to strengthen students’ professional competencies through practical legal training; the operation of the KKU Legal Aid Center (KLAC) under the concept of “Justice for Everyone,” providing legal assistance to the public while integrating community engagement into legal education; the establishment of the Northeastern Center for Alternative Dispute Resolution Studies and Coordination to enhance mediation and arbitration mechanisms across Northeastern Thailand; ongoing collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission of Thailand (NHRC) in promoting and protecting human rights; and the operation of the Human Rights and Sustainable Learning Center (HRS) to advance human rights education, youth development, and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The meeting also explored a broad range of future collaborative initiatives. Both institutions expressed their intention to establish a joint Clinical Legal Education Network, develop collaborative mechanisms to improve access to justice for vulnerable and marginalized communities, undertake joint research on human rights, sustainable development, and legal issues in the Mekong Sub-region, and promote academic exchange in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence Governance, Ethics, and Human Rights.
Additional areas of cooperation include faculty, student, and researcher exchange programmes, participation in Clinical Legal Education initiatives, the development of short courses and professional training programmes, lifelong learning opportunities, and the organisation of international conferences, academic workshops, and youth leadership programmes focusing on human rights.
As part of the visit, the Khon Kaen University delegation also attended a luncheon with postgraduate students from several Asian countries currently pursuing their studies at the University of Essex. The gathering provided a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives on international legal education, gain insights into the experiences of international students in the United Kingdom, and further strengthen academic networks and intercultural understanding.
The visit built upon previous discussions between the two institutions and reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding international cooperation in legal education, human rights, and access to justice. By fostering sustainable academic partnerships, both the Faculty of Law, Khon Kaen University, and the University of Essex aim to enhance research, teaching, and community engagement while contributing meaningfully to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and creating lasting social impact at both regional and global levels.
